Parents are Uniquely Qualified to Teach and Disciple Their Children

As a parent, you are uniquely qualified to be the primary educator of your children. You have more assets than you realize. Listen and be encouraged by a homeschooling father of four sons.

Sonya Shafer is a popular homeschool speaker and writer, specializing in the Charlotte Mason Method. She has been on an adventure for more than 20 years studying, researching, practicing, and teaching Charlotte’s gentle and effective methods of education. Her passion for homeschooling her own four daughters grew into helping others and then into Simply Charlotte Mason, which publishes her many books and provides a place of practical encouragement to homeschoolers at simplycharlottemason.com.

Five Flavors of Homeschooling

The world of homeschooling is a lot like the world of food. You know that you want to provide nutritious meals for your children’s minds, but there are so many possibilities for what that food could look like and taste like. Join Sonya for a simple overview of five main flavors of homeschooling: traditional, classical, Charlotte Mason, unit studies, unschooling. Find your preferred flavor and learn how to shop for a successful homeschool menu.

Kristen Eckenwiler graduated with honors from the UCF, earning a Masters degree in Reading.  She has taught public school, and a variety of courses in Elementary Education at the collegiate level.  Additionally, she has taught classes for the homeschool community.  Kristen has homeschooled her two sons, while also staying very busy testing, tutoring, and providing a variety of products and services through her educational business, The Struggling Reader.  Kristen has been speaking at conferences all over the United States for over a decade.  She brings both a wealth of knowledge and a visible passion to all of her workshops.

Strategies to Teach Reading to ALL Learning Styles

This workshop is offered to provide practical application of the five key elements of reading discussed in the workshop, “Why Can Reading Be So Hard?”  Whether you attended the earlier workshop or not, you will be blessed by learning about teaching strategies and innovative activities that not only gives you fresh ideas for more effective teaching, but will also help you better understand the essentials for reading success.

Multi-Level Teaching

When you had one child, it seemed easy, but adding more children sometimes makes homeschooling feel like a zany plate-spinning act. Vicki shares ideas for keeping the homeschooling “plates” from crashing to the floor! Practical tips for teaching multiple ages—from a mom of 17 homeschooled students (seven school-age at a time!).
