Steve Demme and his wife Sandra have been married since 1979. They have been blessed with four sons, three lovely daughters-in-law, and two special grandchildren. Their fourth son has Downs Syndrome and lives with them in Lititz, PA. Steve has served in full or part time pastoral ministry for many years after graduating from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is the creator of Math-U-See and the founder of Building Faith Families.
Sonya Shafer is a popular homeschool speaker and writer, specializing in the Charlotte Mason Method. She has been on an adventure for more than 20 years studying, researching, practicing, and teaching Charlotte’s gentle and effective methods of education. Her passion for homeschooling her own four daughters grew into helping others and then into Simply Charlotte Mason, which publishes her many books and provides a place of practical encouragement to homeschoolers at simplycharlottemason.com.

Kristen Eckenwiler graduated with honors from the UCF, earning a Masters degree in Reading. She has taught public school, and a variety of courses in Elementary Education at the collegiate level. Additionally, she has taught classes for the homeschool community. Kristen has homeschooled her two sons, while also staying very busy testing, tutoring, and providing a variety of products and services through her educational business, The Struggling Reader. Kristen has been speaking at conferences all over the United States for over a decade. She brings both a wealth of knowledge and a visible passion to all of her workshops.
Strategies to Teach Reading to ALL Learning Styles
This workshop is offered to provide practical application of the five key elements of reading discussed in the workshop, “Why Can Reading Be So Hard?” Whether you attended the earlier workshop or not, you will be blessed by learning about teaching strategies and innovative activities that not only gives you fresh ideas for more effective teaching, but will also help you better understand the essentials for reading success.
Vicki Bentley is mom to eight daughters, foster mom of fifty, and grandma to 23 wonderful grandbabies and five great-grandbabies (so far). Vicki homeschooled 17 children, alongside her husband Jim, and has led a support group since 1991. She is a popular speaker and is also the author of a planner, cookbook, chore system, mentoring program, and other homeschool and homemaking helps. (see EverydayHomemaking.com for details). She has served on her state’s homeschool board, and she currently serves as an educational consultant and Group Services director for HSLDA. Vicki has a heart for parents, with practical wisdom and encouraging words.
Multi-Level Teaching
When you had one child, it seemed easy, but adding more children sometimes makes homeschooling feel like a zany plate-spinning act. Vicki shares ideas for keeping the homeschooling “plates” from crashing to the floor! Practical tips for teaching multiple ages—from a mom of 17 homeschooled students (seven school-age at a time!).
