Recent events have probably left everyone somewhat confused as to where such ominous news as we are hearing every day will lead. When the pandemic threat recedes, major changes could be coming to many areas of society – all levels of education, workplace environments, employment opportunities, government regulation and society’s willingness to accept more of it.

Three or four decades on, since the beginning of the modern homeschool movement, its rapid growth has led to many and varied opportunities to pursue it as it has assumed many forms in today’s world. A myriad of expanding resources and support are available to new homeschoolers today.

As millions of children are suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into some form of homeschooling, we hope that parents will avail themselves of resources that will help them to know the fulfillment that so many have found in the closer relationships that can develop through time spent learning together. No one knows and loves a child more than the parent. We believe parents are capable of being the prime director of a child’s education in ways that can be tailored to the individual for best results.

What effect will the pandemic have on the growth of homeschooling? The potential is great, but the reality may be less so. Many parents can’t wait for school to reopen. If, however, just one percent caught the “bug” to continue with homeschooling, that would be a small impact on public schools but approximately a one third increase in the homeschool population. Precise numbers are difficult to determine, but currently perhaps three percent of American children are homeschooled. We hope that many more will join us. I’ve written many articles on this blog about how math helps us see the incredible order and design God placed around us. Today’s post, though, focuses on how math also gives us sober reminders that sin has marred God’s perfect world, bringing suffering and death....

Hey Dad, We’ve been home from our south Speaking tour for just over a week. We left Florida and it’s been rainy and cold ever since. But I’ve still been basking in the memory of vacation and uninterrupted family time (but it’s growing fainter by the second). While...
