1. Virtual hearings TODAY
From Bill Gillmeister at Renew Massachusetts Coalition:Life and Liberty are under attack in Massachusetts! That’s why Renew Massachusetts Coalition supports HB 1760, The Babies Born Alive Protection Act and HB 1536, The Religious Liberty Protection Act. The hearings are today, starting at 10 AM.
Who can forget the passage of the Infanticide Act just about a year ago, in a lame duck budget session after the 2020 elections and over the Christmas holiday?
In addition to dehumanizing a baby in the womb by removing all references to “baby” and replacing it with the word “fetus,” the adopted budget amendment:
- Enshrines abortion as a right that prohibits the state from any interference.
- Lowers the age that a girl can get an abortion without parental consent from 18 years old to 16 years old.
- Allows infanticide by striking the requirement that the physician save the life of the baby, and replacing it with only a requirement that equipment be in the room without a directive that anyone use it.
- Allows less qualified nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and even midwives to perform even high-risk surgical abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.
- Expands late-term abortions up to birth for virtually any reason.
That’s why Rep. Marc Lombardo (R-Billerica) filed HB 1760, The Babies Born Alive Act.If enacted, the Babies Born Alive Protection Act would reverse some of the worst parts of the Infanticide Act by:
- requiring a doctor to take all reasonable steps to save the life of a baby born alive during a botched abortion, increasing the age of consent to get an abortion from 16 to 18, and by
- requiring all abortions be performed by a doctor, not a less-qualified practitioner.
Attacks on our religious liberties are getting worse almost by the day. They occur when laws allow boys and men to compete in girl’s and women’s sports or to go into girls’ and women’s locker rooms.
It is an attack on religious liberty when a law is passed that restricts counselors from speaking truthfully with children about their gender confusion.
The Religious Liberty Protection Act, filed by Rep. Dave DeCoste (R-Norwell), would prohibit government discrimination or action against any person, business or organization based on a religious belief or moral conviction regarding marriage or the immutable biological sex of males and females.
