2010 MassHOPE Convention: "Remembering the Reason — Renewing the Vision"
MassHOPE’s 21st annual homeschool convention will be held on April 23 & 24, 2010 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts with keynote speakers Mike Smith of HSLDA, and Eric Ludy. The Ludys, Eric & Leslie, will be conducting the Teen Track as well as some other adult sessions. Also featured will be Andrew Pudewa, Joyce Herzog, Vicki Bentley, and much more, along with another exciting Children’s Program. The MassHOPE convention is the perfect place to take a break from the constant hustle and bustle, recharge your batteries, meet old friends, make new ones, be inspired again, check out curriculum and a host of other materials, encourage other homeschoolers, and remember why we are following this path.
Scripture admonishes us in both Old and New Testaments to remember what God has done for us and where he has led us, and to teach our children to do the same. The theme of the 2010 convention is "Remembering the Reason, Renewing the Vision." We are excited about all that will be offered this year to do just that. You won't want to miss our lineup of speakers, the friendly vendors in our exhibit hall, and so much more, all for a reasonable price that hasn't changed in a few years. Here's a sampling of what's coming:
- Keynote speakers are Mike Smith, president of HSLDA, and Eric Ludy. You'll want to get to know Mike when you hear him speak. He is one of the most personable of leaders and will inspire you to renew your vision as well as give practical help in his talks. Eric has become a very popular speaker in many venues for good reason. If you want to be challenged and inspired in your personal devotion, you need to hear him.
- The Teen Track will be conducted by the Ludys, Eric and Leslie. It will surely be a time of both practical teaching and a challenge to total commitment to the Lord.
- Paul and Carol Noland, and their reliable group of energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers, will once again be providing our Children's Program, for children ages 5-11. "Adventures on the Ark" is a program designed to teach children the principles of obedience, diligence, and family cooperation. This program always fills up so don't wait to register.
- Several other speakers will have multiple sessions. Andrew Pudewa, of Excellence in Writing, has been requested by many of you. Returning after several years, Joyce Herzog will address special needs. Vicki Bentley will encourage and give practical advice concerning the high school years. We can't say it enough - don't give up when you reach those years. The Detweilers will be speaking in regard to Classical Education.
- Need help in getting started? Want to be more computer savvy? Want to hear about economical college alternatives? Need help in teaching basic subjects like math and science, or learning some basics about teaching and practicing art? It's all here and more.
Make it a weekend for the entire family or a getaway for Mom and Dad. Check out the list of hotels. The DCU Center is a beautiful facility and Worcester is centrally located for those driving in for the day. We can't wait to see you there.
Please note: Again this year, the doors will open at 7:30 am on Friday for pre-registered attendees only. This will allow you time to get yourself settled in for the day's schedule at a relaxed pace rather than having a big rush for everyone at 8:00 am.
